Whoever says you'll find someone when you're not looking must be right, although I'm not 100% not looking. But this Monday, I was asked out on a date, offered a chance to go out with another guy, and a third guy I hadn't talked to in probably a week returned my call from a few days earlier. And Sunday, I talked with a fourth guy who's very nice, but VERY Kentucky (Powell County, anyone?). I had a hard time understanding him. He called just now. I don't have the energy to talk to him, though. Then there's a fifth guy, who really is more like the first in this line. He's working out of town. Long story short, but he says he's really keyed up about hanging out when he gets back. I'm not sure I buy it, actually, but we'll see. The best prospect out of this bunch is the first one mentioned, because the date went really well yesterday, but hey, I've been watching a lot of Sex and the City, and I'm channeling each one of them to a degree, so if I decide to go out with each one of them, what the hell?
Pheremones are a very interesting thing.

Man Update
Here I am on Sunday evening... nothing big happened this weekend, but I was propositioned for casual sex by an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old, and an older married guy made a pass at me, and two other guys who expressed interest in the past have tried to get me to give them a second chance. So I guess I still got it. ;)

A thought on exes...
Props to Frank for digging this Sex and the City quote up... this is the way I wish it went as far as guys I've dated:
Miranda:
"Believe me, I would love to be one of those people who's all, 'We loved, thank you, you enriched my life, now go, prosper,' but I'm much more, 'We didn't work out; you need to not exist'."

Return of the freak magnet
I went to Bogart's last night to see Steve's band. I hadn't even walked in the door yet, and I managed to find the weirdest guy in the place, of course. Here's how the conversation went:
Dude: Sally!!
Me: Uh... no... my name is Dana.
Dude: But your middle name is Sally...
Me: No... it's not.
Dude: I'm your uncle... Jerry...
Me: I don't have an uncle Jerry.
Dude: Oh. Well. (hangs head and mumbles) I was tryin' to hit on you. Can I at least get a 'thank you'?
Me: Um.... thank you.
Dude: You *are* very pretty. I wish I had a niece like you.
Me: (thinking) (Yeah, I know we're in KY, but we don't condone incest.) Thanks.
Then there was another guy who kept walking past me. He was wearing a ringer shirt with nothing on it, and I swear, all he was missing was the red hair and "Vote for Pedro" on his shirt, and he could have passed for Napoleon Dynamite. I guess he thought I was uncomfortable, because he pulled a chair up beside me and mumbled something. I was already ready to leave, but I took that as my cue to leave before he asked me about my tots. So, the freak magnet lives on...

Committing...
Why is it that no one can ever commit to doing anything? Granted, I admit that I can be flaky sometimes, but if I know I have solid plans with someone, I'm much less likely to flake. It seems like all the friends I have don't want to commit to hanging out, I guess because they're afraid that if they commit to hanging out with me, they'll miss out on something better. I did have someone more or less admit once that they were waiting to see what else was going on, and boy, did that make me feel good. NOT. It'd be nice if they would agree to doing something - it'd be even better if THEY came up with the activity, instead of me always having to.

Where to start...
As Dave Matthews sang, there's "so much to say." I have a few ideas floating around for blogs. I guess I'll start with the most recent one. I just got back from Louisville - all of the billing coordinators were there for "training," which basically was a "let's go over the changes to the new billing system, which you may or may not ever use." My co-biller and I had heard that we would be done today around 12, which ended up being true. We ate lunch and were done around 1:30 or so. She had already pretty well decided that she was going back to work when she got back to Lexington, which everyone thought was crazy. But she's not done packing up her desk so she can move this weekend to another floor, and she has bills that apparently HAVE to be run (heh, like all of the out-of-towners don't!), so she decided to go in, which makes me look bad, because I opted not to. Our Nashville billing coordinator isn't going in, and she'll be back at 2 her time. She said something about having to take PTO (personal time off) for the time that she didn't go back into work if she didn't go, and she didn't want to do that. I seriously doubt we'll have to take PTO. I think she'll really just screw herself out of a free afternoon off.

Take Two
About a year ago, I went to a singles dinner in town that involved people from Catholicmatch.com and people from FOCAS (the Fellowship of Catholic Adult Singles). I went to meet up with a guy I'd met through CM, but I met another guy there - Bobby. Bobby was a very pleasant, talkative guy, and I enjoyed chatting with him. We exchanged numbers and went out for coffee not long after. The coffee date went well, and we kept in touch. I invited him out to see a play at a local restaurant not long after, and he was game, so we made arrangements to meet.
The play started at 8, and they stopped serving food prior to the start of the show. Bobby had said he wasn't going to be able to make it there before 7:30 because of a meeting he had to get to beforehand, so I sent him the online menu and asked if he wanted me to order him something so it'd be there when he got there. He never answered as far as whether or not he was going to eat there, so I let it ride. I got down there around 7:15... I waited and waited to order food. He finally arrived about 5 minutes before the show started, and he told me that he'd already eaten, so I was pretty disgruntled that I'd waited. Anyway, the show started, and the first half was really entertaining. We ended up talking to one of the actor's families during the intermission, before we went outside for some fresh air. During the break, he revealed to me that the meeting he had been to was an AA meeting. I was flattered that he shared such a personal detail with me, and I also felt horrible for having ordered a glass of wine, but hey, I didn't know. We went back in for the second half and really enjoyed that as well. By the time the show was over, it was 11:15. We chatted a bit outside, and then started to part ways. He was parked in the garage across the street, and I was parked around the corner. He never offered to walk me to my car or anything, which I thought was rude. I mean, I'm not a frail woman or anything, but it was 11:15 at night, in downtown Lexington. Who knows who could have been waiting around the corner? I was kinda turned off by that point - not just because of that, but I really wasn't bowled over by him anyway. He's a nice guy, but not someone I'd dream about every night.
Fast forward to about a year later... last night I was at church, sorting out the money we received in the collection, and one of the women who had been at that dinner came in to talk to me. "You remember that guy you went to meet at that dinner last year... the one who worked for a bank? Well, he's interested. He asked me about you." "Oh, really... let me tell you a story." I relayed the story, and she said, "So, you don't want me to give him your number?" I said, "Oh, you can, I guess... what the heck. He should still have it - I still have his." So, who knows if he'll call, or if anything will transpire. I may be setting myself up to have to reject him, or maybe things will be different. I guess it never hurts to try.

I came, I saw, I created a blog...
Yep, here ya go... my first official blog, not counting the ones on MySpace. I took Frank's lead, and Chris's suggestion, and joined up 'n' stuff. So I'm not gonna weigh this post down with a bunch of stuff, but man oh man, I'm sure I can dig up lots to blog about, particularly when it comes to the stupid guys I seem to attract. Hope youse guys enjoy!
